The Ripple Effect Workshop

The Ripple Effect Workshop

@101 Outdoor Arts

Red Herring Productions is looking for a group of volunteers to help design their new interactive outdoor show called The Ripple Effect.

Who are we?
Red Herring Productions
is based in North Devon, well known in the outdoor arts world for creating shows where audiences are encouraged to respond and join in. We believe that playing is brilliant, that playful opportunities should be available to everyone and that playing can also help us to feel and think differently about the world around us.

What's the show about?

The Ripple Effect is about water - the weird and wonderful nature of it, its importance to life and the challenges that we face around water scarcity, abundance and pollution. We hope that it will be fun and thoughtful, hilarious and beautiful. The idea is that the show is fully participative - we will train up a group of people in a short amount of time, to feel confident and ready to play with us, in front of an audience.

What we are asking from you!

We invite you to join us for a two-hour-long workshop, with a discussion afterwards. During this workshop we will test out a series of playful, creative exercises - these will involve movement, puppetry, sound & rhythm and may involve listening on headsets. The exercises will be fully adaptable, so that you can join in however you feel able to. While we may encourage you to be daring, we will never demand that you do anything that you don't wish to do. At the end we will have a conversation, asking you to report back on how the exercises and the session as a whole felt like. Would you consider yourself prepared to repeat these exercises in public and if not, how could we turn this around?

We hope that this will be a fun and curious couple of hours for you and as your participation would be extremely helpful for us, we hope that this would also be rewarding.
