Summer School with ADHOK

Summer School with ADHOK
The Language of Dance Theatre Outdoors

Mon 27 - Fri 31 Jul 2026
£195 (including meals & accommodation)

Internationally-renowned Compagnie ADHOK lead an intensive residential workshop on theatre and dance.

As part of our annual Summer School programme bringing leading European outdoor arts companies to the UK, Compagnie ADHOK will lead a five-day intensive workshop to develop and explore your ability to create a language with dance and theatre in public space. ADHOK's co‑founders, Doriane Moretus and Patrick Dordoigne, have each shaped the art form for over three decades — this is a rare chance to work closely with artists operating at the very top of their field.

Over the course of the lab you will explore movement and create choreographies while developing skills for integrating artistic ideas into outdoor locations, diving into the characteristics and practicalities of different sites and types of project - learning to choose the right spaces for performance. You will learn how to work and guide the natural movement of audiences to create powerful promenade performances. The week will culminate in a large group outdoor performance of the theatrical choreographies developed throughout the workshop.

Who is it for?

This opportunity is for outdoor performance makers wanting to deepen their practice, learn directly from leading practitioners and take their work to a new level. This is a movement-focused lab, but you do not need to be from a dance or theatre background specifically. We welcome artists working at any point in their career including those thinking about working in the outdoors for the first time.
