Land Empathy is a contemporary fusion of dance and sculpture, urging us to forge a deeper and more emotionally driven connection with nature.
The Work
This urgent performance challenges us to deepen our connection with nature against the backdrop of the climate crisis, combining powerful contemporary dance with sculpture by Anna Gillespie and electronic music by Larch. The work has been conceptualised through Richard Chappell's Clore Leadership Fellowship secondment at The Centre of Alternative Technology.
The Artist
Richard Chappell's creations explore human connection as an act of restoration, making space for people connect deeper with themselves, each other and the land around them. Our work shines a light on what people have overcome and where they are going.
The Sharing
Richard Chappell Dance are sharing their 2nd full run of the work with all visual arts and choreographic elements combined, ahead of their premiere at Greenwich and Docklands International Festival on 7th September. The performance will be 20 minutes and then there will be a brief discussion with RCD collaborators and audiences to hear performance specific feedback ahead of their first show. This will be guided using an RCD specific adaptation of Liz Lerman's critical response framework.
Suitable for all ages.
Sharings are open to anyone, please R.S.V.P to 101 at hello@101outdoorarts.com
