ABLAZE

ABLAZE
Newbury Town Centre
7.30pm – 9.40pm
13-15 Sep 2024

Set the night Ablaze with us in celebration of 10 years of 101 Outdoor Arts!

Presented by 101 Outdoor Arts with fire installations by Cie Carabosse.

Ablaze lit up the Kennet and Avon Canal with spectacular fire sculptures by legendary French company Carabosse and live music. We promenaded along the fiery canal together in celebration of art, community and a decade of outdoor excellence with 101 Outdoor Arts and Corn Exchange Newbury.

In 2013, Ablaze enchanted audiences with its mesmerizing display of fire sculptures, transforming the canal and Victoria Park into a realm of flickering braziers and towering plant-like installations. In 2024, Ablaze returned to celebrate a decade of ambitious Outdoor Arts in Newbury and ignite the path forward for the next ten years.

With live music by...

Jali Fili Cissokho
- Kora
Jo Meikle
- Hang Drum and Electronics
Tim Hill
- Saxophone
Mark Anderson
- Dream Vortex

The hottest event of the year – Ablaze was free and open to everyone!

When French company Carabosse came to Newbury, the town centre came alight with kinetic sculptures bringing fire, clay, metal and water together in improbable combinations.

As much alchemists as artists, Carabosse have travelled the world, never failing to enchant audiences from the very young to the very old.

Newbury Canoe Club Blog

Newbury Canoe Club volunteered at Ablaze and helped keep the fire braziers in the canal alight each evening during the event. They've since written a blog about their experience at Ablaze, alongside some incredible photos from the perspective of the boat crew.
