Exchanging practices and skills in outdoor sound

101 Outdoor Arts and The Centre for Performance, Technology and Equity (PTEQ) at the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama present two linked events as part of the new Sound and the Outdoors programme: Site and Sound Symposium and Base Frequencies Lab.

Building on the Site and Sound Symposium, Base Frequencies is a three-day creative lab designed as a collaborative, peer-to-peer space for practitioners and theorists to exchange practices and skills in outdoor sound. Participants will have access to the state-of-the-art creation and fabrication facilities at 101 Outdoor Arts, in partnership with PTEQ. Additionally, the programme offers opportunities to engage with diverse sites across natural and built environments.

The event will be fully catered and accommodation for up to 15 people is provided onsite. Beyond this participants will need to find their own accommodation locally. Please indicate whether you require accommodation. Attendance is required for the full three days.

At this stage we are asking for initial calls for interest in Base Frequencies. Further details will be released in early 2025.

Site and Sound Symposium

Tue 3 Jun 2025

The Site and Sound Symposium is included in the price of the lab and takes place the day before. The event will bring together artists, designers, technologists, and researchers to investigate how sound art and performance can meet the public in the natural and built environment.
