The Work

Parade – The Giant Wheel is a moving performance inspired by the beauty, power, and impact of people from different walks of life coming together, featuring a 12-foot tall Giant Wheel powered by 6 street artists and accompanied by music and a large community cast of local groups and individual performers.

Autin Dance Theatre uses their unique blend of contemporary storytelling, striking physicality and innovative large designs to transport audiences and communities along a carefully choreographed procession.

The Artist

Autin Dance Theatre is an award-winning, interdisciplinary touring company based in Birmingham.Autin Dance Theatre is a collaborative ensemble of creatives who devise & produce aspirational, socially engaged & mass participatory movement projects regionally & internationally. Autin Dance Theatre’s distinctive artistic voice draws on contemporary social issues (environment, community, relationships & identities) to make engaging, accessible, relevant performance work.

The Sharing

Autin Dance Theatre were halfway through the 2nd stage of development and creation phase for their new show Parade - The Giant Wheel. This sharing was a sneak peek of the rehearsal process on Friday, 16 Feb to find out more about the show, engage in conversation around community co-creation and outdoor work, and give feedback about what reads well, what’s memorable, what’s missing.The sharing was drop-in between 2-5pm and there was a livestream on Zoom.
